Dear Gray. It was wonderful having you sign my copy of your life enhancing book when I went to Speakeasy on Sunday. I couldn’t believe my luck when I discovered you were actually there!
I have sent off three different happy families from Castle Horneck YHA this morning to discover the delights of Jelberts ice cream via your pre and post poem musings on the end of Cornish Lent and the harbinger of the end of the Cornish winter!
You really must get the National Trust shop at the bus station to stock your book. Promise?
Also Ros at Redwing Café would be more than happy to stock it,I know. Even if only on sale or return as they are are not for profit community interest company ‘Hub’ ( as I am sure you already know!)
Here’s hoping I do make the decision to ’emigrate’ from Moseley in Birmingham ( much as I live it there) and come to live in Bread Street!
Best wishes
Tessa Kate Lowe
Hi Tessa…thank you for the kind remarks about AVFAC and. I surely will make the effort to put the book about a bit more. As for moving down here, well my wife and I don’t regret it…the summer is only just starting and PZ is just one long celebration. Take care. Gray
Yes indeed! I’ve gathered that! However…I am putting it in hold I think
Intend coming three times a year though..maybe even for Fringe Literature Festival. I have been asked to participate in our Moseley Festival on 5th July so can’t make the main events unfortunately.
I have six gardens here which I lovingly tend and some very good friends, so, whilst it is really tempting to come to the beautiful Edge of the World and although I have seen a flat in Bread Street which would be just the job, I’m not leaping in.
I saw a sign in a Vintage shop window at the bottom of Market Jew Street which said ‘ Proverb: Zeal is like a fire, it wants fanning but needs keeping under control’..or words to that effect. I decided to take note.
Your book still delights. Are you involved in the LitFest ?
Cheers
Tessa
Sounds like you have a lot going on for you in Moseley. I suppose what I like about living in Penzance is the immediacy of getting to places…which didn’t happen when we lived in Sheffield. Most things are a short walk from our house. As for the LitFest, I have my own show on July 3rd (I think at The Acorn). I am also supporting top British poet, Luke Wright on May 31st again at the Acorn.
Cheers
Gray
Shame I can’t be there! Will have to just make do with the book and YouTube!
Is there a SpeakEasy on Sunday 7th July. I wonder? I am thinking of coming down again on 6th perhaps.
Sheffield was the first place I came to after disembarking at Southampton from South Africa as a nearly newly divorced newlywed in 1968.
My elder daughter works at Sheffield University and lives in Doncaster!
Speakeasy usually stops for the summer as many of the participants have visitors. Moved to Sheffield from Lancashire for university in the 90s…loved living there, it is very vibrant place…but the pull of Cornwall was too great 🙂
